JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible to: The Principal
Directly Supervising: in 2009 the position will be in a Senior Classroom. This is currently a Bilingual Room operating at up to 40% of language and learning in Te Reo. We currently have 2 other rooms operating as such spaced throughout the school.
However as this is a permanent positions, the successful applicant must be able to, and willing to, teach in whatever area is designated depending up[on the schools needs a recognised by the principal.
Functions:
1. To take a lead within Hora Hora School, as a Bilingual Teacher, working alongside all staff but in particular with the other bilingual teachers as well as working closely with the Kaiarahi Reo in the overall planinmg/implementation of Te Reo Programmes
2. To follow National and School Curriculum Guidelines.
3. To plan and deliver stimulating and challenging instructional programmes aimed at achieving the specific objectives set and maximising the potential of students.
4. To evaluate the success of the programmes in terms of the objectives and make a cooperative contribution to ongoing school reviews.
5. To assess and monitor individual student progress and achievement and provide regular written and oral reports for parents on children's progress and achievement.
6. To maintain appropriate classroom management.
7. To take an active part in school cooperative teaching initiatives as agreed with the Principal.
8. To follow School Procedures, Policies, and Programmes.
9. To take part in the school's extra-curricular activities.
10. To have fun with their students and bring a joy of learning to them
Other Tasks:
1. Attend all staff and curriculum meetings.
2. Carry out playground duty as per roster
3. Assist with the writing of procedures, policies and school programmes.
4. Attend in-service courses when required.
5. Possibly work with other classes as part of an interchange.
6. Take part in a parent / teacher/ pupil interviews.
7. AND any other requrements designated by the Principal or those authorised that are legal, and not outside what would be expected of a New Zealand teacher.
Conditions of Service:
As covered by the latest Primary Teachers' Collective Employment Contract.
