On Friday the 11th of March, Hora Hora School held a coin trail to raise money for kids in Christchurch. Our kids, staff and parents, dressed in black and white and showed their support for Christchurch following their earthquake last month. It was a great success with over $800 raised!!! A big thank you to the children, the parents and the staff for the beautifully reverent day.
What a great way to start off the day, walking into the school and being greeted by Mr. Mahon! Check out the gumboots!
Mr. Manning and Mr. Moffat came in early to draw the outline of New Zealand for our coin trail.
Mrs. Tuckey admiring the NZ outline.

The Coin Trail - By Layne Popham
It was a beautiful morning in Hora Hora school. After Morning Tea, we gathered all together for The Coin Trail. The Coin Trail is when we all come together and give at least ten cents for a school in Christchurch that needs money for the damage that the Earthquake caused. To make a Coin Trail we drew a map of N.Z and drew a line from Whangarei Hora Hora school to Christchurch, we don't know which school we're going to give it to yet, but Mr. Newman will tell us next week. I gave $1.80, a boy in my class gave $10.00, so that's 100 coins! I helped him put it down on the line. We were expecting one line, instead we got three lines. After that, Mr Newman, our Principle, went to the bank to see how much we made. When he came back he announced how much we made, we had made...$413.10 then someone added $400.00, so we had made $813.10 . It was a happy day. The End
