YEARS 0-2

A look inside our english-medium junior classes

Our classes work collaboratively in one space using a Play Based Learning (PBL) approach. This means we identify childrenʼs strengths and allow them to grow through hands-on experiences.

WHY PLAY-BASED LEARNING?
  • seamless transition from ECE to school

  • allows children to thrive and develop at their own pace

  • children build self belief - one of the most powerful tools for ongoing success

OUR OBSERVATIONS

Over the past five years we've noticed...

  • an increased development of oral language

  • children's resilience is strengthened because they're given opportunities to problem solve and negotiate

  • our learning environment is joyful

  • children are able to develop creativity and curiosity because we don't rush

WHAT DO OUR STUDENTS LEARN?

Our students learn all areas of the curriculum but our main focus is developing skills and attitudes to help them across their entire lives. These are known in the NZ Curriculum as Key Competencies. Through PBL our tamariki learn...

  • to manage themsevles

  • relate to others

  • contribute positively

  • to think and problem solve
